GRAND SLAM SMILE pressed the pace from outside, lost touch briefly with the leader into the turn, reengaged between rivals while three to four around the bend, lost touch with BECKY'S DREAM (FR) entering the lane, came back on under left-handed urging before the rider lost the whip midstretch, dug in under strong handling and got up late. BECKY'S DREAM (FR) set the pace under pressure from GRAND SLAM SMILE early, inched away momentarily past the seven-sixteenths pole before being challenged by outside rivals around the bend, held command two to three wide entering the lane, cleared at the top of the stretch, showed the way into the final sixteenth and could not fend off the winner late. CRAZY HOT broke a step slow, chased outside the to pair to the turn, bid three deep and five wide into the lane, could not keep pace with the leader in upper stretch and flattened to third. STORMY GAL was off slow to begin, trailed six wide into the turn, angled in a few paths around the bend and never got involved.
