SMART LAD broke sharply, but was taken in hand and allowed to settle off the contested early pace while racing one out from the rail entering the backstretch, launched his bid three wide entering the final turn, took control leaving the final turn, and quickly opened a clear lead, and held SET TO SHINE safely at bay late. SET TO SHINE unhurried early while trailing the field into the backstretch, rallied smartly three wide entering the final turn, and closed willingly two out from the rail in the lane while gaining late to prove easily second best. BOLD ARCH dueled for the lead from the outside of BELCARRA PARK entering the first turn, forced the issue two wide in the run down the backside, took a narrow lead into the final turn, was overtaken leaving the turn, and faded in the stretch drive. BELCARRA PARK away alertly and vied for the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, set a pressured pace in the run down the backstretch, struggled to keep pace with her pace rival entering the final turn, and weakened over the final furlong.
