Chart notes
FRANZ JOSEF well placed and outside, moved up to gain a short lead three wide through the second turn, shook clear inside the furlong marker, then drew off under mild urging. ALABAMA SLAMMER sprinted to a clear lead soon after the start, stayed on when challenged through the second turn, then could not threaten the winner and held the place safe. HEIRLOOM KITTEN tacked the pace, gained a striking position on the two path through the second turn, bid between rivals into the stretch and flattened the final furlong. SURF AND TURF hopped at the start, saved ground through the turns, came through inside of rivals into the stretch and had no rally. J BERESFORD TIPTON was no factor.
