MEMPHIS broke out then was asked for speed, traveled five wide on the first turn, contested the pace on the outside, dropped a bit off the pace near the five-eighths then re-engaged the new leader, vied in the three then two path on the far turn, took the lead near the five-sixteenths, fought outside of the runner-up under a left-handed crop in the stretch and narrowly prevailed under strong handling. CLOUD FOREST brushed the outside of the gate at the start then brushed with a rival, saved ground on the first turn, settled just off the pace, was asked to move up through a rail opening with five furlongs to run, took the lead then briefly inched clear before being challenged, vied inside on the final turn, was headed under urging around the five-sixteenths, fought on well inside of the winner under the crop in the stretch but just missed while well clear for the place. HAPPY BOB brushed with a rival at the start, lugged out five wide early on the turn then dropped to the four path, was rated off the pace under a snug hold, came under urging in the three path on the far turn, chased four wide under a drive into the stretch, pursued the leading duo into the final furlong, drifted in near the sixteenth-pole and weakened but was well clear for the show. STEADY PROGRESS bumped with rivals on both sides while in the three path on the first turn, contested the pace between foes, dropped back near the half-mile pole, came up empty in the two path on the far turn and capitulated. UNION TAP hit the inside of the gate then stumbled and was last to commence, was carried out early, went four then three wide on the first turn, was reserved off the pace, traveled two to three wide while roused on the far turn and failed to respond. HINENI bumped with a foe while in the two path on the first turn, contested the pace on the inside of rivals then was passed on the fence near the five-eighths, chased inside through the far turn and tired. GOLDEN PURCHASE bumped with a rival while four wide and between horses on the first turn, dropped back near the five-eighths, was urged four then five wide on the far turn and failed to respond.
