OPTIMAL rushed up to take the lead at the half mile marker, set a pressured pace then was challenged in the stretch drive but dug in and drew clear. SILVER AND ACES was off the pace to mid turn then was coaxed at and made a three wide bid to engage the top two nearing the eighth pole and proved second best. LIL LATIGO pressed the pace from two wide to the eighth pole and gave way grudgingly. THORNISH trailed.
