COWAN was coaxed along off the pace, moved up outside the half-mile pole, saved ground on the turn, gained under a drive to make a bid in upper stretch, responded gamely in the final furlong, battled with the runner-up to the finish and narrowly prevailed. DURANTE was hustled from the start, contested the pace on the outside then in the path on turn, battled with multiple foes under a drive in the stretch, fought with the winner to the finish and just missed. GUN IT dropped back at the start then settled at the rear, went around most the turn in the two path while unasked then dropped closer to the rail, was roused into upper stretch, gained while remaining on his inside lead in the drive and got up for the show. SWILL pressed the pace on the outside, vied in the four path on the turn, turned into upper stretch on even terms for the lead, dropped back into the final sixteenth and weakened. SCARAMOUCHE was urged along on the outside, went five wide on the turn, was driven six wide into the stretch and lacked the needed kick. STROBE was hustled from the gate, disputed the pace on the inside of a rival, vied in the two path on the turn, battled under a drive into the final furlong and tired. PROVOCATEUR was urged off the pace, dropped back while climbing a touch outside the half-mile pole, went three to four wide on the turn, came five wide into the stretch and lacked the needed response. SEVEN NATION ARMY was urged along off the pace, went four wide on the turn and came up empty.
