Chart notes
MAGICAL SURPRISE took the lead and moved to the inside to rate the pace, was hand ridden past the seven sixteenths pole, drew off under steady pressure at the rail on the far turn then kept alert through the stretch. CALLISTO'S BRIGADE rated close to the early pace inside, bid nearing the three eighths pole and raced off the rail on the far turn, but flattened later yards while settling for second best. COLONIAL ROAD raced in the five path the first turn and left the turn outside, picked up the chase from the three eighths pole, rounded the far turn about the four path and just lasted for third. IRISH FLIGHT settled off the rail the first turn, gave chase nearing the three eighths pole, rounded the far turn at the rail and passed rivals in the lane. CHARTERED COURSE saved ground on the opening turn, gave chase past the seven sixteenths pole but showed little response. TRAP HOLLER became a bit anxious in the gate then stalked two deep, gave chase from the seven sixteenths pole, raced at the rail on the far turn and weakened. VIESTE showed little response after a half mile. LUNAR GHOST was not a factor.
