Chart notes
LOVERBOY LOU was reserved three wide, advanced on the turn and was four wide by the quarter pole, made a bid in the lane and hit the front leaving the sixteenth marker and then held off the closing JUPI'S LIGHTNING late to prove best, driving. JUPI'S LIGHTNING was reserved on the inside, advanced on the turn two wide by the quarter pole, came three wide into the lane, angled out to the outside and closed with a rush to just miss. DEFEND was away alertly and hustled to the front to set the early pace while clear, then remained clear by the furlong marker but weakened late, stayed on for the show award. ARISTOCAT chased the pace and made a two wide bid by the quarter pole but flattened out. COAST TO COAST was allowed to settle on the inside but had no rally. TURNS failed to menace.
