Chart notes
DERBY DAY DREAMS gave chase through the backstretch, rounded the turn near the rail, dug in past the eighth pole and got up the final yards. CARIBBEAN PLEASURE bore out leaving the gate then pressured the pace, took the lead two deep past the five sixteenths pole, raced at the rail on the turn, dug in under steady handling but was caught while flattening stride the final yards. TAP SECRET chased inside through the backstretch, rounded the turn in the three and four paths, drifted leaving the turn but dug in to take third the final yards while gaining on the waning runner-up. JEFFERSON NATIVE set a pressured pace inside, was caught leaving the five sixteenths pole, remained a close factor into the turn but dropped back midway through the turn and flattened in the lane. TIZ NO CLOWN was shuffled back leaving the gate then gave chase, rounded the turn about the three path, drifted toward the head of the lane and flattened later yards. BO'S BOURBON gave chase, raced in the six path on the turn and showed little in the lane. BRISTOL CHANNEL saved ground. The Stewards reviewed, then rejected a claim of foul against the rider of Caribbean Pleasure for alleged interference leaving the gate, lodged by the rider of Tiz No Clown.
