SHE'S A TEMPEST stepped to the front and led two wide then along the rail early, set the pace under pressure up the backstretch and far turn, headed at the quarter pole, lost command in upper stretch, battled back to regain command midstretch and gamely prevailed. ULTIMATE AUTHORITY broke out and bumped GATE TO PARADISE, chased three then two wide early, went up to apply pressure from outside on the backstretch, headed the leader with a quarter mile remaining, put a nose in front in upper stretch, gave the lead back to SHE'S A TEMPEST past the eighth pole, battled in the late stages and finished gamely in defeat. GATE TO PARADISE got bumped from inside at the start, rushed up from inside and ran up on heels briefly into the first turn, stalked from two wide into the far turn, came under a ride while moving inside, asked left handed entering the lane and weakened. DISCREPANCY chased four then three wide early, continued three wide around the second bend and faded.
