Chart notes
ALWAYS SOMETHING took an immediate lead and angled to the inside to rate the pace, came under pressure toward the quarter pole, drifted leaving the turn but dug in under steady stretch handling and held on well. SCARLET TANAGER gave chase inside and rounded the turn at the rail, dug in leaving the turn and just lasted for second. MAKE IT A DOUBLE gave chase through the backstretch, raced in the five path on the turn, drifted toward the head of the lane but finished well to take third late and just missed second. GRANDIOSELY chased, raced off the rail on the turn and ran evenly in the lane. SALTY SAUL gave chase, rounded the turn off the rail and had little left. CONNOISSEUR angled to the outside to give chase and was not a factor.
