Chart notes
NATURAL HARBOR was hustled from the gate, chased the pace on the outside, made a bid near the seven-sixteenths pole, vied in the four path on the turn, took the lead passing the five-sixteenths pole, responded well under heavy pressure in the stretch and held gamely. BORLETTI (IRE) was taken in hand when the pacesetter crossed in front early then came under coaxing, went three wide under strong urging on the turn, was driven five wide into the stretch, moved in while chasing outside the furlong marker, gained to make a bid inside of two foes outside the sixteenth-pole, fought with those rivals to the finish and just missed while narrowly able to get the place. BLUE PLATE SPECIAL had his head-turned at the start and was off slow, spotted the front several lengths, climbed some while angling out near the five-eighths pole, went five wide on the turn, came six wide into the stretch, rallied to make a bid outside the sixteenth-pole, battled outside of the top two to the finish and just missed while clear for the show. CAPITAL CONQUEST was urged along off the pace, saved ground on the turn, turned into the stretch in the two path and lacked the needed response. UNCLE GEORGE broke out then was corrected by the rider, moved in while going to the front, set the pace under pressure to his inside, vied in the three path on the turn, dropped back under a drive in upper stretch and tired. KANT BEAT THE ROCK was ridden along towards the rear, went four then three wide on the turn and failed to rally. RETURN THE RING was hustled from the gate, pressed the pace on the inside of the leader, drew even late on the backstretch, vied along the rail on the turn and capitulated.
