Chart notes
ELIOT NESS sprinted clear, dug in late and prevailed under all out pressure. BIG BOSS BEN stalked the pace, raced four to five wide around the far turn and finished gamely to the wire. SPECIAL OPERATOR stalked the pace, made a two to three wide bid and finished willingly to the wire. MONTEREY PENINSULA dropped back early, moved from the outside around the far turn, fanned seven to eight wide into the upper stretch and finished gamely to the wire. STAR OF STARS settled early, raced seven deep into the upper stretch had not enough in the drive. BREAD WINNER raced with the second flight early, moved up from the inside into the upper stretch, blocked nearing the sixteenth pole and kept on. SUEZ raced six wide around the far turn and had no late rally while racing from the outside. CASPER JUSTICE tracked the pace from the inside and weakened. STOCKPILER lag early on to race far back and never threatened. BOLD COURAGE failed to respond.
