Chart notes
ROMAN GENERAL vied between rivals down the backstretch and into the turn, was in tight and eased back slightly to circle three wide heading into the stretch, edged past the dueling leaders to draw off in the late stretch prevailing in the end. COPPER STATE was brushed on both sides, then chased the battling trio from the inside, angled out four wide leaving the bend and kept on in the late stretch while passing foes and was just up for the place prize. BARBACOA was away well to vie for the lead from the inside down the back stretch, then duel with the remaining outer foe at the top of the turn, in a strong drive, then was out finished in the end. LEXINGTON RIVER broke outwardly and bumped rival, then vied for the lead while three wide, dueled with an inner rival on the turn, then was defeated by ROMAN GENERAL on the outside in the late stretch and missed the place prize in the end. PALMETTO DEVIL was bumped at the start, then bid briefly for the lead while four wide before settling back on the backstretch, then rallied mildly leaving the bend and just missed the show prize in the end. IRON MOON was no threat. SON OF PREACHERMAN raced at the tail of the field and was no menace.
