Chart notes
PAYNT BY LETTERS a step slow at the start, was settled running widest, commenced his bid after a half mile, moved to the inside leaving the second bend, rallied just off the inside and took the lead with seventy yards left. MAC PANDOWDY settled just off the inside, also picked up his pace after a half mile, came into contention four wide on the second turn, fanned out further into the lane, moved clear upper stretch but did not have enough left to hold back PAYNT BY LETTERS in the late going. LONESOME DREAM moved up to be a factor from inside on the backstretch, progressed two wide on the second bend, fanned out to path four for the stretch run, lacked the extra need but but held his position. MEDAL OF FACT prominent from path three, angled out widest for a clear path at the top of the lane and did not have enough left. DUST DANCER share the lead just outside SWAGGY GEORGE to upper stretch then began to gradually yield. SWAGGY GEORGE contested the pace from inside to the upper stretch, gave way, was eased the final furlong and walked off.
