Chart notes
HOPPIN JOHN tracked the pacesetters through the turn, rallied from four wide turning for home, overtook the leader in upper stretch and drew off handily through the lane. PURPLE OCTOPUS pressed the pace to midway on the turn, took command nearing the quarter pole, had no answer when challenged by the winner and finished willingly to hold the place. BE LUCKY set a pressured pace to the top of the lane and kepton evenly in the lane to take the show. MY TENNIS SHOES reserved off the pace and lacked closing response when called upon. ANCIENT MAN failed to menace posing no threat. STOLICH was not a factor.
