DIAL A CLICHE watched the front duo after the break, pulled the rider to bid outside at the five eighths marker, moved in on the frontrunner outside midway on the turn, bid for the lead by the quarter pole to poke her head in front between runners straightening out to the wire and gamely prevailed up front winning in a tight photo at the finish line. SILENT PASSION pressed the pace at the start, was reined back on the rail at the five furlong marker to track the top two, closed in around the turn inside, clipped the pacesetters heels nearing the quarter pole, stumbled momentarily, angled outside three wide for the drive posing the main threat and battled down the stretch but could not get by the stubborn winner at the wire. IRON PYRITE under a tight rein assumed command down the back straight, spurted away from the eventual winner at the half, maintained a short lead inside going around the bend, was collared outside by the quarter pole, stayed on determinedly through the stretch but faded in the final seventy yards to hold for the show money. TAPROOM was content to track this compact field along the backside, made no headway through the turn, shifted out for the drive but could not get into contention driving to the finish line.
