Chart notes
MAIN BEACH vied two wide, then took over on the first turn, set the pace on the inside, showed the way on the far turn, responded when roused, dug in gamely in the final furlong and held well under urging. PARIS SURPRISE tracked on the inside, saved ground on the far turn, angled out for the drive, rallied, bid in midstretch and came up second best. AMERICAN MEMORIES raced off the pace inside, saved ground on the far turn, rallied mildly on the rail and was up for third. TRIUMPHANT ROAD broke outward, raced three wide early, then stalked two wide, bid two wide and weakened in the lane. JUAN VALDEZ raced off the pace with an inside trip and lacked a rally. PORTIS steadied at the start, raced two wide off the pace, chased on the far turn and failed to threaten. BIG ERN MCCRACKEN steadied in the chute, then pulled and was steadied entering the first turn, settled off the rail, off the pace, chased three wide on the far turn and faded. TRUE FAITH broke a step slow and then steadied, raced three wide off the pace and gave way. UNDERINVESTED raced off the pace, moved up between rivals on the backside, lacked a response when asked and gave way.
