Chart notes
COLONEL VARGO broke out a bit then went to the front, set the pace under pressure from both sides, vied in the two path on the turn, battled with the runner-up under a drive into the final furlong, shook clear outside the sixteenth-pole and prevailed under strong urging. RIBBONS AND MEDALS was hustled from the gate, pressed the pace on the inside of the leader, vied along the rail on the turn, came off the inside under a drive in upper stretch, drifted out in the final furlong and was outfinished while clear for the place. BRONX BOMBER brushed with a foe at the start, was urged along off the pace, dropped back leaving the backstretch, saved ground on the turn and improved position late to get the show. BUSTIN SHOUT brushed with a rival at the start, dropped back under urging, moved from the two path to the three path early on the turn, shifted to the four path later on that bend, came five wide into the stretch and lacked the needed response. SAGAMORE MISCHIEF pressed the pace on the outside, chased four wide on the turn, dropped back late on that bend and weakened. AMERICAN GENTLEMAN was restless in the gate then was hustled from the start, pressed the pace between foes, was hard ridden in the three path on the turn, dropped back late on that bend and tired.
