AUGUST RAIN broke sharply and stalked the early pace from along the rail through the stretch the first time, maintained his position in the run down the backside, launched his bid from along the inside entering the final turn, and closed two wide from between rivals in deep stretch to get up in time. DIOCLES settled off the early pace while saving ground at the rail, commenced his bid three wide entering the final turn, and closed determinedly two out from the rail in the drive to just miss. WESTMINSTER tracked the leader through the stretch the first time while racing two out from the rail, pressed the pace two wide in the run down the backstretch and into the final turn, took the narrowest of advantages into the lane, and gave way grudgingly late in a solid effort. MONEYSHOT away alertly and took up sharply when squeezed between rivals approaching the first turn, worked his way into a stalking trip one out from the rail in the run down the backside, battled for the lead from the outside of WESTMINSTER through the final turn, but was outfinished late. VECTOR away well, and raced into a tracking trip while drifting out entering the first turn, maintained a striking position in the run down the backside and into the final turn, but lacked the needed closing response when called upon. CLASSY CITY steadied slightly when put in tight quarters entering the first turn, held a stalking trip while hung wide through the stretch the first time and in the run down the backside, carried on four wide into the final turn, but lacked the needed closing response when called upon. SHOCK THE HOUSE raced to the lead from along the rail entering the stretch the first time, dictated the pace through the second turn and in the run down the backstretch, rallied along the inside entering the final turn, but weakened over the final furlong. The stewards conducted a review of the run to the first turn, which resulted in no action being taken.
