Chart notes
TANG raced three wide off the pace, rallied four wide into the stretch, commenced a late run outside rivals in midstretch, surged late and was up in time. WHO KNOWS raced off the pace inside, advanced inside on the turn, angled out in upper stretch, rallied three wide, gained a short lead in deep stretch and dug in gamely to the finish. CHAPLIN dueled two wide for command, dueled on the turn, dug in through the stretch run, weakened and earned the show spot. SIR ROBERT HALL dueled inside for the lead, dueled on the turn, dug in through the lane and weakened late. VINDICATED TIGER raced off the pace inside, moved up between rivals at the quarter pole and faded in the stretch. MEROKEE raced off the pace between rivals, chased outside on the turn and tired. KERN RIVER trailed the field, steadied at the half mile marker to avoid a loose rival, steadied behind that rival entering the stretch and did not factor. BRENNAN'S WAR stumbled badly leaving the chute and lost the rider, walked off. After a Stewards' Inquiry into the incident, the race was declared official.
