FOOTHILLS BLVD. broke sharply and was allowed to settle off the early pace while racing two wide entering the backstretch, began to advance midway down the backside, rallied smartly one out from the rail entering the final turn, and finished determinedly three wide in the drive to get up in the closing strides. AMERICAN TSUNAMI away well and vied for the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, set a pressured pace from the inside of BAKBURNER in the run down the backside and through the final turn, was unable to fend off FOOTHILS BLVD. in the final strides while battling gamely to hold the place. BAKBURNER away alertly and dueled for the lead two wide entering the first turn, continued to force the issue from the outside of AMERICAN TSUNAMI in the run down the backstretch and through the final turn, but was outfinished late while holding on for a share. BLUEBIRD CAFE eased off the pacesetters to take a stalking trip into the backstretch, rallied along the inside from the back of the pack entering the final turn, but failed to make a serious late impact while finishing four wide in the drive.
