FAST VERDICT saved ground while racing off the pace down the backstretch then made a rail bid on the final turn, drifted out slightly in the stretch but stayed on to be second best. SMARTY ALEX tracked the leaders from two wide and passed tiring rival. HELAIRE stalked the pace from three wide down the backstretch then made a mild bid on the final turn and faltered. NOW NOW MAN trailed throughout.
