JOE LOUIS late and got the best of that foe but was denied by the winner at the finish. ST. NOW AND LATER was hustled from the gate, saved ground on the first turn, settled near the middle of the field, was roused in the two path on the far turn, moved out some under a drive in the stretch and lacked the needed kick. KING FREUD raced in the three path on the first turn, stalked the pace on the outside, was asked near the seven-sixteenths, made a bid under urging on the far turn, dropped back under a drive into the final furlong and was outfinished. OFFICER DERICK was hustled to the front, showed the way on the inside, was asked under threat on the far turn, lost the advantage into upper stretch, dropped back into the final furlong and gave way. SKELLIG ISLAND was hustled from the gate, saved ground while well placed in third position, was roused on the far turn, chased under a drive in upper stretch and lacked the needed response. BEARY FUNNY went two then three wide on the first turn, settled on the outside, was urged four wide on the far turn, dropped back between horses in upper stretch and came up empty. A LISTER was taken in hand early then eager off heels into the first turn, moved from the two path to the four path on that bend, settled on the outside, dropped back while moving from the five path to the three path on the far turn and faltered.
