Chart notes
TENACIOUS LEADER showed speed on the inside of a foe while dropping from the four path to the two path on the first turn, was eased back off the pace late on that bend, moved out entering the backstretch then tracked the pace on the outside, was given his cue in the three path on the far turn, made a bid outside the quarter-pole, took the lead into upper stretch, disposed of the runner-up near the furlong marker and drew away while drifting out some under strong urging. CLOCK TOWER showed speed while dropping from the five path to the three path on the first turn, moved clear late on that bend, set the pace off the rail down the backstretch, dropped from the two path to the inside early on the far turn, was asked under threat outside the quarter-pole, lost the advantage to the winner into upper stretch and proved no match while clear for the place. STATESMAN was hustled from the gate, saved ground on the first turn, dropped back early on the backstretch, was roused near the half-mile pole, saved ground on the far turn, came off the inside nearing the quarter-pole, turned into the stretch in the three path then lugged inward and came up empty while best of the rest. ROYAL PRESENCE saved ground on the first turn, climbed some into kickback late on that bend, was urged along at the rear, dropped from the three path to the two path on the far turn, came out to the five path into upper stretch and lacked the needed response. GOVERNING PARTY was last away then hustled, went three wide on the first turn, settled off the pace, was roused late on the backstretch, went three then four wide on the far turn and capitulated. CONCRETE CRUISER went around the first turn in the two path, was well placed just off the pace, dropped back under urging near the seven-sixteenths pole, moved from the rail to the three path on the far turn and had nothing left. THE BOONDOCKER went four wide on the first turn, settled on the outside, dropped back under urging while four then five wide on the far turn, turned into the stretch in the six path and faltered then was eased but walked off.
