OUT ON BAIL dueled three then two wide with JET SWEEP JOE to his inside, swung three wide into upper stretch set down for the drive, got bumped near the eighth pole when JET SWEEP JOE came out under a left handed crop, dug in under a drive trading leans and getting carried out two paths before coming in under a right handed crop and bumping his main rival a sixteenth out, then bumped his main rival two to three more times carrying that foe in to the finish two to three paths and leaning on him while getting up in the shadow of the wire. JET SWEEP JOE dueled along the inside of OUT ON BAIL, got roused spinning just off the inside into upper stretch, came out under a left handed crop and bumped his main danger a furlong out, dug in trading leans and carrying out his main rival two paths before getting bumped by OUT ON BAIL a sixteenth from home as that rival went to a right handed crop, then traded leans again and was bumped three more times before the finish getting carried in two to three paths and was leaned on late and nailed on the line. SPIRALIZER stumbled at the start and conceded three lengths to the front before settling into stride, chased just off the inside coming under coaxing at the five-sixteenths, angled four wide into upper stretch and weakened. CLASSIC TIME chased just off the inside and then along the inside coming under coaxing at the three-eighths, spun two to three wide into upper stretch and tired. There was a Stewards' Inquiry into the stretch run as well as a claim of foul by the rider of JET SWEEP JOE alleging interference against OUT ON BAIL in the stretch drive. After review, the objection was dismissed and the result was allowed to stand prior to the race being declared official.
