Chart notes
CATEGORY TEN assumed command on the backstretch, set the pace, was under pressure in the stretch and held well. ATKINS was unhurried early, advanced to the turn, bid eight wide, closed willingly and couldn't get by the winner. HOPPIN JOHN was off a step slowly, saved ground while racing in the back, got through along the rail entering the stretch, vied for the lead, hung late and settled for show. MCQUEEN went five wide on the first turn, held a good position, rallied into the second turn to challenge, tired and faded through the stretch. GOLD SMOKE was through after a half. BOOGIE BODE led around the first turn, pressed the pace to the second turn, angled out in the upper stretch, tired and faded. VALIANT WEST was never far back, went widest in the drive and lacked a stretch response.
