Chart notes
SMITHWICK'S SPICE vied two wide for the early lead, took charge on the turn, pulled away under intermittent urging and was kept to the task in the lane. LIKE WHAT I SEE bobbled slightly at the break, vied inside for the lead, steadied in tight entering the turn, then chased inside, dug in gamely in the two path in the stretch run and held well for the place spot. GROUCH raced off the pace with an inside trip, rallied on the rail in the stretch drive and got third. GOLD TRUST raced between foes and was shuffled back in the early stages, then chased the pace and rallied mildly in the three path. GOLDEN BROWN raced off the pace between rivals, rallied three wide into the stretch and weakened. THERE ARE NO WORDS was bumped at the start, raced three wide off the pace, chased four or five wide on the turn and lacked a stretch rally. SPEAKING was bumped at the start, chased close up three wide early, then two wide on the turn and gave way in the stretch. BINGO'S BOY chased close up four wide early, dropped back on the turn and faded.
