Chart notes
CABO SPIRIT off alertly to take the front, controlled the pace from the rail in hand, inched away on the far turn, roused in upper stretch, asked right hand past the eighth pole and held gamely under strong handling. THERE GOES HARVARD stalked outside rivals or four wide into the stretch for the first time, traveled three deep then moved into the two path on the clubhouse turn, chased three deep at the five-sixteenths pole, took aim three wide into the stretch, finished determinedly and edged MASTER PIECE (CHI) for the place honors. MASTER PIECE (CHI) stalked the speed from the rail, roused while saving ground on the far turn, finished determinedly inside a pair of rivals and got edged for second. DICEY MO CHARA (GB) was closest in pursuit from the two path through the early stages, came under a ride at the five-sixteenths pole, chased between rivals into and down the lane but finished evenly late. GOLD PHOENIX (IRE) settled three deep, chased outside a rival around the far turn and failed to respond when called upon. DIVIN PROPOS (FR) reserved in the two path then fought the rider early, moved to the inside, saved ground around the far turn, angled out and bumped rival at the top of the lane and failed to threaten. SEVEN WONDERS got put in a bit tight early along the rail, pulled from inside tracking the pace, tugged further on the backstretch, hugged the rail on the second bend, roused into the stretch and could not rally. BIG BLUE LINE had to take hold when running on heels approaching the stretch for the first time, traveled along the rail towards the rear then inside a rival at the back, trailed two wide into the stretch and failed to make an impact. ROCKEMPEROR (IRE) unhurried in the early going, trailed two wide then outside a rival, pulled the rider along at the five-eighths pole, continued two wide to the stretch and was never a factor. BALNIKHOV (IRE) also unhurried in the opening stages, moved into the two path, traveled outside rivals on the backstretch, went three then two wide around the final turn, got bumped from inside at the top of the stretch and could not rally. EL ENCINAL (ARG) pulled early when rated between foes, dropped back off the pace on the clubhouse turn, got put in a bit tight on the final bend, moved to the inside and weakened.
