THREE CAPTAINS , three deep on the turn, was alertly taken to the inner rail at the head of the stretch, rallied to gain the lead in upper stretch, went clear in mid stretch, drifted out under left hand urging near the sixteenth pole but remained well clear. HOLD OUT pulled four deep down the backstretch, gained the lead entering the turn, remained well off the rail, lost the advantage in upper stretch and finished gamely. BILL OF RIGHTS stumbled soon after the start, raced four wide on the turn, chased the pace and weakened. FORMAL AFFAIR went to the inner rail after making the early lead, showed speed and weakened leaving the turn. SNEAKING SUSPICION bucked and was rank soon after the break, raced forwardly in the three path on the turn, drifted wide entering the stretch and gave way. WASHINGTON'S UNION chased the pace and gave way leaving the turn. BETTER WATCH IT , taken to the inner rail soon after the start, dropped back.
