Chart notes
WINE AND WHISKY broke well but was content to sit just behind AZURE STAR (IRE) always traveling well, made an early bid for the lead passing the half-mile marker, was confidently handled to the top of the stretch, opened up when roused and drew away under intermittent urging. PLAYBOY STYLE tracked mid-pack while three to four wide, launched a bid from the three furlong pole, swung five wide into the stretch and close well to gain second. MARKSMAN ON TARGET got forward position early, went three wide into the first turn then tracked in third position measuring the pace, moved with WINE AND WHISKY to bid for the lead after passing the half-mile pole, could not go on with that one in upper stretch and was passed late for second. AZURE STAR (IRE) broke well and immediately went to the lead without challenge, was under a rating hold to the half mile pole then was challenged by WINE AND WHISKEY and WRONG DIRECTION, weakened with about three furlongs to run and finished evenly. WRONG DIRECTION lacked early speed despite getting some early encouragement from the rider, advanced into contention down the backstretch, was up with the leading pair going into the far turn, the bid three wide from the five-sixteenths, was unable to maintain the rally and finished one-paced down the stretch. GALLANT WARREN lagged behind the field, started to make some forward progress in the run down the backstretch, loomed into contention with a rail trip through the far turn but could not muster the needed response and was outfinished. COOPERKLIMT steadied at the break attempting to duck in, was off very poorly and lost all chance, dropped far behind the field stayed out in the three path and trailed throughout. This race was originally hand timed and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
