WIRLY GIRLY away alertly and tracked the leader into the stretch the first time while racing one out from the rail, forced the issue from the outside of ABOVE AVERAGE, got the better of that rival entering the lane, and held off a late surge by Matsqui late to prevail. MATSQUI stalked the early pace from the back of a compact field while racing one out from the rail entering the stretch the first time, bided her time behind the contested pace in the run down the backside, rallied smartly three wide entering the final turn, and closed determinedly three wide in deep stretch to prove second best. ABOVE AVERAGE broke sharply and was sent to the lead from along the rail entering the first turn, set a pressured pace from the inside of WIRLY GIRLY through the second turn and in the run down the backstretch, continued that battle through the final turn, was unable to match strides with her pace rival entering the lane, and faded in the late stages. This race had a timing discrepancy or malfunction and was re-timed using video technology to arrive at the most accurate time.
