Chart notes
QUALITY STORM stalked the early speed from between horses, went for the lead when allowed three wide on the bend, angled in some as he edged ahead upper stretch, responded to urging to move clear inside the last furlong, was kept to task to the sixteenth marker, allowed to relax in the waning yards and proved clearly best under confident handling. MIDNITE ALEX hesitated at the start, progressed from along the rail on the turn, fanned three wide into the stretch, continued to gradually improve position and caught TRICKY MOMENT nearing the wire. TRICKY MOMENT disputed the pace from inside, was no match for QUALITY STORM in the lane, slowly wore down in the waning yards but was clearly best of the others. BLAKELY'S BOY a step slow at the break, saved ground and passed inside a few tired ones upper stretch. STORM BACK was a factor toward the outside on the backstretch but faded two wide on the bend. STEVE displayed early speed just outside TRICKY MOMENT but began to yield on the turn. DIRTY THOUGHTS broke somewhat slowly and inward and was always outrun.
