Chart notes
SOCIETY'S THUNDER was allowed to settle in the beginning to co-trail on the inside, pulled the rider closer at the half watching the front two while between horses, had to wait behind a wall of three rivals midway around the turn, shifted out for wide starting his run at the quarter pole to have a clear lane five wide entering the stretch, switched leads when encouraged left handed at the eighth pole and determinedly swept on by outside in the last seventy yards for the win. GIANT TEDDY prompted the pace outside down the backstretch, inherited the front from a troubled leader with three eighths from the wire, spurted away from the competition at the top of the lane but had no answer for the late charge by the winner on the outside in deep stretch. LIGHT THE LAMP travelled in midfield on the rail, edged closer on the rail throughout the turn, skimmed the fence to pose a threat inside in upper stretch and finished up willingly to win the duel for the show award. PINE KNOLL tracked in the second flight on the outside down the back straight, took the overland route going four wide moving in around the turn to be in the hunt in the three path straightening out for home but evened out with a sixteenth left to run to be a fringe player in the end. HAVE A SOUPER DAY was pinched back soon after the start to trail down the backside, saved ground making little impression on the fence throughout the turn, swung out four wide at the top of the lane and passed a weary foe at the sixteenth pole. KINETIC STONE cleared under a tight hold from the outer post to have the lead on the fence with five furlongs from home, lost action for a few strides giving way up top at the three eighths marker, recovered to keep pace between runners sitting just behind the new leader around the bend, had little left for the stretch run and yielded in the two path by mid-stretch.
