Chart notes
THUNDERING relaxed smartly with runners on both sides in mid-pack, measured the front duo between horses waiting for the cue to move through the turn, closed in two wide with a quarter mile to run, pounced in the three path by upper stretch to have a clear advantage at the eighth pole and was kept to the task to hold off the closing rival in deep stretch for the victory. BUCARO was reluctant to load prior to the start, settled at the rear rating kindly down the backside, was coaxed for more shifting outside midway on the turn, quickly swept around runners at the quarter pole to loom a menacing presence outside foes six abreast at the top of the stretch, drifted in at the furlong marker even though urged left handed, tried in earnest to reel in the winner late but could not close the gap at the wire. HE'S NOT JOKING travelled on the inside in mid-division, waited in the second group tracking on the fence through the bend, dropped back when behind a tiring rival at the quarter marker, angled out three wide for the drive to the wire and split foes with determination a furlong from home to be a non-threatening third at the finish line. CAIRO CAPER broke out on the break, stalked three deep outside ahead of one rival down the backside, offered a mild run three wide around the bend to be in the mix in the five path turning for home but could only finish up evenly in the final furlong to settle for a minor placing in the end. WAR OF DESTINY was away alertly to seize command down the backstretch setting a modest pace into the wind, lost the lead at the three furlong pole, backed away on the fence through the turn, shifted out off a tiring rival in mid-stretch and finished up with some interest late outside. MANSETTI was bumped inside at the start, recovered to prompt outside down the backside, edged away for the lead three eighths out, opened up briefly by the quarter pole, then was collared outside by the winner at the top of the stretch, offered no resistance and stopped on the fence at the sixteenth pole.
