Chart notes
MR. CHIVAS rated from inside, swung out widest into the lane, rallied, began to lug in after entering the final sixteenth but swept past SPEIGHTIEMAN in the waning yards. SPEIGHTIEMAN shared the early lead outside SPIN THE BOULEVARD, moved ahead on the bend, stayed just off the inside, widened command under urging in the stretch but began to wear down inside the last eighth. SPIN THE BOULEVARD vied for the lead from inside, had a narrow path along the rail nearing the quarter pole, altered outside SPEIGHTIEMAN leaving that marker and only made up minor ground three wide deep stretch. GOLDEN BUCK forwardly placed outside SPEIGHTIEMAN, was three wide on the turn, floated out to path five into the stretch and ran evenly to the wire. REGIMENTAL a step slow at the break, bumped with HOLCOMBE, moved out widest, was just off the rail on the turn, angled to the outside with a furlong to go, drifted out further, held a straight path the last sixteenth and showed a willingness to run late. HOLCOMBE also a step slow at the start, bumped with REGIMENTAL, was soon well back, saved ground and lacked a stretch bid. CROWN ROYAL KID in midpack early while toward the outside, was three wide on the turn, angled to the outside nearing the eighth pole and had little to offer the rest of the way. The rider of SPIN OF BOULEVARD lodged an objection alleging interference from SPEIGHTIEMAN at the quarter pole. After their review, the stewards did not uphold that claim of foul.
