GRAPHENE CASSOCK pressed the early speed while in a narrow path between rivals, altered outside LIMA ZULU into the bend, led from path three into the stretch, moved clear, began to slowly drift out after entering the last furlong but narrowly held on in a close photo. IDEA MAN broke inward, pressed the early speed from inside, was in tight quarters briefly nearing the turn, did not keep up through the bend, altered outside GRAPHENE CASSOCK upper stretch, angled out some as the latter came out in the late going, closed well but had to settle for second best. MAJOR CONTENDER hesitated then had to alter in at the start to stay clear of IDEA MAN, advanced just off the inside, swung out to path four entering the lane, altered in for a clear path inside the final furlong, took over third nearing the sixteenth pole and found best stride too late. TAPIT SAM in contention between rivals, progressed three wide on the bend, swung out further into the stretch, had every chance but ran evenly the rest of the way. CHARLIE LIGHTNING prominent from outside on the backstretch, did not stay close four wide on the turn, lost further ground staying outside TAPIT SAM enering the stretch then rallied belatedly the last furlong. WILLOW RIDGE bumped with LIMA ZULU at the start, was without early speed, advanced behind MAJOR CONTENDER through the turn and showed a willingness to run deep stretch. MAPACHE G also without early speed, lost ground widest through the bend but also was closing the gap the last eighth. SUPER SILVER moved to the inside early on, fanned out some for the stretch run and showed interest deep stretch as well. MODAZZLE soon trailed running widest, followed behind MAPACHE G on the turn, angled out widest again upper stretch and made up some ground the final furlong without threatening. LIMA ZULU bumped with WILLOW RIDGE at the break, set a pressured pace between rivals, moved clear and stayed just off the rail on the turn but quickly gave way inside rivals in the lane. The rider of IDEA MAN lodged an objection alleging interference from GRAPHENE CASSOCK into the turn. After their review, the stewards did not uphold that claim of foul.
