Chart notes
CALL ME SUE was away a step slow, took closer order down the back straight to prompt the pace outside at the half, chased the pacesetter around the turn, could not make any headway on the frontrunner in upper stretch, switched leads at the furlong marker, found another gear late and wore down the leader in the shadow of the wire. DOUBLE RIDE bobbled on the break, recovered quickly to have the lead down the backstretch, was headed outside at the half, spurted away for a clear advantage again with five sixteenths to go, still maintained a comfortable margin up top with an eighth remaining but was caught by the late surge from the winner a few jumps before the finish line. YOU AND ME BABY had a tracking position outside in the second tier along the backside, edged closer between foes two wide in tight quarters midpoint around the turn, could not reel in the top two horses down the lane but did stay on willingly to just hold for third place. OK SPEEDY was away slowly, tracked in the second flight on the rail down the backside, was checked on the fence midturn to be at the rear by the top of the lane and stubbornly re-bid on the fence to the wire to almost come back to get the show money. DARK THOUGHTS settled on the outside in midfield, had a mild run three wide around runners at the quarter pole, shifted out widest in the six-path turning for home but could not get involved in the stretch running. GIL'S FOLLY had a tardy start, co-trailed on the outside at the half, was roused but could see the field though the turn, angled out five wide for the drive but lacked a finish in the stretch. J M R SPEEDYVERDIK missed the break at the start to trail in the beginning, began to pass rivals on the rail with seventh sixteenths from home, made a brief run between horses midway around the bend but yielded in the two path by the furlong marker.
