Chart notes
SIR LUCAS broke alertly and assumed early command, set a moderate early pace while well handled nearing the half-mile marker, showed the way into the turn and drew to a clear lead at the quarter pole, maintained a clear lead into the stretch, began to get weary in the final sixteenth, felt late pressure from the runner-up and lasted for the win at the finish. FAST SERVICE a bit slow into stride away from the start, recovered and settled off of the early pace while not far back, tracked outside of rivals into the turn and went three to four wide nearing the quarter marker, closed well into the stretch, responded to urging and rallied into the final sixteenth, surged in the late stages and just missed for the win, while besting the rest. THIRSTY FRIEND took back off of the early pace, tracked between rivals approaching the turn, got caught in tight and waited for racing room at the quarter pole, tipped three wide into upper stretch and ran evenly to the furlong marker, closed into the final sixteenth, could not impact the top pair late and was clear in the end for third. BOBBED N LURED stalked the moderate pace from the inside, chased the pacesetter while saving ground approaching the quarter pole, ran in pursuit into upper stretch and lacked a response in the late stages. BANG AND A BOOM bobbled then hit the gate at the start and was off slowly, settled in the early stages while not far back, chased three wide into the turn, offered a mild rally into the stretch but did not factor late. DIXIE ROSE LEE raced close up to the moderate early pace, tracked two to three wide and between rivals along the turn, could not keep pace into the stretch and faded in the final furlong.
