Chart notes
BLACK BEARDS GHOST broke slow and came in to bother PROUD RACER at the start, rushed under coaxing while racing greenly along the inside, took over at the nine-sixteenths pole, maintained a short lead through the turn and upper stretch, then put away UNCLE CHILLY midstretch and drew away in the final sixteenth. UNCLE CHILLY broke well and went to the front, dueled outside BLACK BEARS GHOST up the backstretch and around the turn, kept the pressure on to the eighth pole, yielded in midstretch and stayed on for a clear second. MAJESTIC PALISADES up close early chasing off the rail, raced three wide in pursuit through the turn, could not offer the needed response in the stretch run but managed to stave off PROUD RACER for third. PROUD RACER broke slow and got forced in by the winner leaving the gate, moved out wide while dropping back early, gained two, three, then four wide on the turn, flattened out in the furlong grounds and could not get by MAJESTIC PALISADES for the show honors. CAUGHT IN THE DARK prominent early then chased the top pair on the inside leaving the backstretch, moved into the two path briefly before returning to the rail while starting to weaken around the bend, then faded down lane.
