Chart notes
BIG BET broke well and bid for the lead with GUAGUARERO going into the first turn, then backed off to a stalking position in the three path and was content to sit just off the flank of that rival to the far turn, moved to challenge for the lead approaching the quarter pole, battled to mid-stretch, gained the advantage in the final furlong and won clear. CAUSE FOR DIVORCE tracked a few lengths behind the pacesetting pair, went into a sustained drive with three furlongs to run, was slowly gaining ground in the stretch, proved to menace to the winner but kept to task and gained second in the final yards. GUAGUARERO was hustled from the break and was first into the clubhouse turn with BIG BET just to the outside, was left to dictate the fractions down the backstretch two paths away from the rail while that rival remained a constant presence, responded under pressure when challenged at the quarter pole, battled gamely to mid-stretch then gave way and was unable to hold second. LATER TAMARTATER was slow into stride and lagged well behind the pace while allowed to settle, was asked to go on from the seven-sixteenths pole but could not improve in the stretch. SIBERIAN SLEW broke well but did not show any early speed, toiled at the rear of the field inside of LATER TAMARTATER to the half-mile pole, fell further behind through the turn and was eased in the stretch when hopelessly outrun.
