Chart notes
SPIRITUAL LADY broke in front then angled in while hustled, showed the way down the backstretch, dictated terms in the two path through the turn, responded well when set down into upper stretch, came under a right-handed crop while drawing off outside the furlong marker, switched to a left-handed crop outside the sixteenth-pole and proved much the best under steady urging. SPRING MAGIC chased the pace on the outside then in the three path on the turn and safely secured the place while no match for the winner. BALENCIAGA BETTY was hustled from the gate then chased the pace, raced inside for most of the turn then shifted to the three path and weakened but just held the show. IRISH JACKSON was last to commence, raced on the outside under urging, went around the turn in the four path and failed to rally. STREET JAM chased the pace, dropped back fast late on the backstretch, rounded the turn in the three path and lacked the needed response. STARRY MIDNIGHT dropped back between horses early then was urged along near the rear, was carried out outside the half-mile pole, angled in leaving the backstretch, dropped from the three path to the rail on the turn and failed to threaten. BELLE OF THE BALL moved out early then was ridden along off the pace, shifted further out outside the half-mile pole, traveled around the turn in the five path and was no factor. BOOK OF WISDOM was urged along at the rear, moved from the rail to the two path late on the turn, came out into the stretch and also was no factor.
