ACCIDENTAL GENIUS close up to the early pace, tracked from the inside into the first turn, saved ground while well placed through the backstretch run, chased from the inside into the second turn, swung outside of rivals at the quarter pole and mounted a three to four wide rally into the lane, closed fast into the final sixteenth and got up in time for the win. MALA allowed to settle in the early going while never far back, saved ground into the first turn then moved out to track the pace while widest into the backstretch, well placed nearing the half-mile marker, mounted a four wide bid into the far turn and vied for the lead into upper stretch, took command at the furlong grounds, dug in and led into the final sixteenth, was tagged by the oncoming winner in deep stretch and held at the wire for second. UNPRETENTIOUS was forwardly placed to begin, tracked the early pace three wide into the first turn, attended to the moderate pace through the backstretch run, bid three then two wide and between rivals nearing the quarter pole, took a narrow lead into upper stretch and battled to the furlong marker, was overtaken past mid-stretch but fought on into the final sixteenth, was outfinished in deep stretch and held clearly for third. ESCAPE PLAN broke alertly and assumed early command, set the pace into the first turn, carved out moderate fractions into the backstretch, came under pressure into the far turn and led to the quarter pole, battled into upper stretch, could not keep pace into the final furlong and gave way late.
