Chart notes
MARQUITOS M was taken outside soon after the start, raced widest down the backstretch, began to close ground in the five path through the turn, shifted into the four path nearing the furlong marker, split rivals three wide under a hand ride in deep stretch and was along in time. NATIONAL STORY allowed to settle, swung wide, closed determinedly five wide and just missed getting up in time. STRIKE PLATE chased the early pace, surged to the front two wide with a rapid move before a half, set the pace until deep stretch, dug in determinedly but was outfinished in the final stages and finished on even terms with NATIONAL STORY at the wire. BIG TIME FLIRT with the second flight, offered a mild bid two wide entering the stretch then failed to sustain that bid. BUCKEYE MIKE sprinted to a clear lead soon after the start, set the pace for nearly a half, kept on along the inside until mid stretch then weakened. HAPPY TAKEOVER well placed, swung wide and was through after a half.
