Chart notes
THE DOORMAN bumped at the start, raced off the pace two wide, angled four wide near the quarter pole, closed outside, was up near the sixteenth pole and forged ahead under a drive. NATHANIEL'S HOPE bumped at the start, stalked the pace two and three wide, took the lead in upper stretch, led to the sixteenth pole and held well clear of the rest. TEAM CAPTAIN pressed the pace two wide, took the lead near the quarter pole, vied to midstretch and held on for the show. HAKKIMI (CHI) failed to menace while racing two and three wide. CANDY STREET bumped at the start, set the pace along the rail and gave way near the five-sixteenths marker. BATTLE OF DOVER bumped at the start, saved ground in range, checked near the five-sixteenths pole and retreated. FORTY FLASH bumped at the start and again soon after, raced off the pace three wide, bid outside of foes down the backstretch, chased four wide around the far turn and faltered in the lane. AN OBJECTION LODGED BY THE RIDER OF BATTLE OF DOVER AGAINST THE WINNER FOR ALLEGED INTERFERENCE NEAR THE THREE-EIGHTHS POLE WAS NOT ALLOWED.
