Chart notes
DEAN'S LIST prompted the pace while racing three-wide, took the lead from COMPETITIVE IDEA nearing the sixteenth pole and gradually edged clear late. COMPETITIVE IDEA vied for the lead with LIBERTY FOREVER from along the inside, responded when challenged by DEAN'S LIST and held on gamely while not being able to resist that one late. D D S EXPRESS was forwardly placed while racing four-wide, came five wide into the stretch and finished well for third in a steady effort. LOCO LUNA saved ground while being unhurried, angled out nearing the eighth pole and was gaining late. ALL THAT GLORY was allowed to settle, came six-wide into the stretch but lacked a rally. AMERICAN OUTLAW broke in the air to get away behind his field then saved ground but was unable to recover the lost ground. ELIOT NESS was prominently placed while racing three-wide for a half mile and tired. LIBERTY FOREVER vied for the early lead while two-wide, checked from between horses nearing the quarter pole, was quickly taken in hand and pulled up then was transported from the track via the equine ambulance.
