Chart notes
HONORARY DEGREE settled off the pace, steadied nearing the five-eighths pole then swerved to the outside, chased the pace from that juncture, went around the turn in the four path, rallied outside in upper stretch, closed strongly to get the lead inside the furlong marker then moved clear under steady handling to prevail. QUICK HAMMER was hustled to the front then went clear, dropped from the two path to the rail on the turn, was asked approaching the quarter-pole, led under a drive into the final furlong then was overtaken while able to get the place. AIR SHOW chased the pace on the outside, made a bid in the three path on the turn, chased the leader into upper stretch, remained on his left lead until just before the furlong marker then swapped to the proper lead and weakened but held the show. UNION LIGHTS was hustled from the gate then urged early before being taken under light restraint outside the five-eighths pole, raced between horses passing the nine-sixteenths pole, was roused while inside to the two path on the turn, turned into upper stretch under a drive, moved out in the final furlong and lacked the needed kick. DADDY KNOWS was hustled from the gate, steadied while lugging out near the five-eighths pole, continued to steady while lugging out into the turn, bore out from the rail to the five path on that bend, spun into the stretch in the six path and lacked the needed response. ALWAYS CHARMING turned his head to the inside just before the gate opened, was held by the assistant starter a bit longer then the rest of the field, came out slow then drifted out, spotted the front several lengths, moved in near the nine-sixteenths pole, saved ground on the turn, shifted out in upper stretch and was no factor.
