Chart notes
BLACK POWDER settled of the pace outside, four advance second turn, three wide bid, drifted in nearing the sixteenth pole exchanging a bump with BISHOPS BAY, dueled with that one to the wire, dug in game late to prevail. BISHOPS BAY narrowly set the pace while just off the inside, vied into the lane closest to the rail, drifted out to squeeze back a tiring WOODCOURT, came out again with a sixteenth to run bumping with the winner, outkicked to the wire by that rival, remained clear of the others. CAROLO RAPIDO lacked speed outside, four wide rally into the lane, continued with interest to annex the show, no real threat to the winner. WOODCOURT pressed the runner up from the outside, raced on equal terms with that one into the stretch, appeared to be tiring in mid stretch when put in tight by the runner up, squeezed, continued to falter. BATON ROUGE last away, raced back while saving some ground, two path into the lane, improved position slightly without posing a threat. VITTORIO within striking distance while along the inside, came up empty for the stretch run. WILLY D'S was finished after a half. EMPIRE BUILDER forwardly placed outside, had nothing for the drive. HAYES STRIKE fell back to trail after the start, was always outrun. FOLLOWING A STEWARDS' INQUIRY REGARDING THE RUN THROUGH THE STRETCH AND A CLAIM OF FOUL BY THE RUNNER UP AGAINST THE WINNER, NO ACTION WAS TAKEN.
