CAN'T ZAP THIS well placed in the early stages, tracked the moderate pace three wide into the turn, loomed nearing the quarter marker, took command into upper stretch, kicked clear under firm urging at the furlong marker, drew away into the final sixteenth, was geared down while in hand in deep stretch and won as much the best. HOT LIPS HOULIHAN slow into stride away from the start, gained ground two wide into the turn, tipped three wide into the stretch, made a steady advance into the final furlong, was no match for the winner in deep stretch and was a clear second best. ROYAL LIAISON sent to assume early command, set a moderate pace heading to the half-mile marker, dictated terms to the turn and led to the quarter marker, came under pressure and was overtaken into upper stretch, could not keep pace with CAN'T ZAP THIS into the final furlong, weakened in the late stages and held clearly for third. READY prominent early, stalked the moderate pace outside of ROYAL LIAISON heading to the half-mile marker, pressed the pacesetter into the turn, lost position between runners approaching the quarter pole, could not keep pace into upper stretch and faded in the drive. GOSPEL B. HAVIOR bobbled at the start and was away slowly, settled in the second flight to begin, saved ground into the turn and did not threaten in the stretch drive. CAPETOWN CANDY tracked the moderate early pace, lost ground heading to the half-mile marker, chased three wide into the turn and did not factor in the stretch drive.
