Chart notes
W G SECOND TO NONE settled off of the early pace, was caught a bit wide into the first turn, settled three wide and tracked between runners into the backstretch, well placed nearing the half-mile marker, mounted a three wide bid into the far turn, loomed into upper stretch and vied for the lead nearing the furlong marker, took command and kept to task into the final sixteenth, felt a bit of late pressure and held in a drive at the finish. FOLLOW THE STAR crowded at the start and away a bit slowly, was allowed to settle and saved ground into the first turn, maintained an inside path while never far back through the backstretch run, chased into the second turn, angled out for the stretch drive and finished well in the late stages, could not reel in the winner in the final sixteenth and got up in time to secure the place honors. BIG NICKEL broke alertly and sped to the early lead, set a moderate pace into the backstretch run, was engaged by OLD BOYS CLUB and set the pressured pace into the second turn, dueled that rival to the quarter marker, shook free into upper stretch and was set down for the drive, was overtaken by the winner into the final sixteenth and was outfinished late for second. OLD BOYS CLUB away in good order, was prominent to begin and stalked the early pace from between runners, kept close attendance to the moderate pace through the backstretch run, pressed the pace into the second turn, was outkicked at the furlong marker and weakened in deep stretch. ZORRO D' ORO lunged at the start and was away slowly, unhurried in the early going, maintained a wide trip through the backstretch run, gained ground four wide into the second turn, swung five wide into the lane, could not find the needed late response and passed tiring rivals in the final sixteenth. CHAHTA CITIZEN close up in the early stages, tracked the pace four wide into the first turn, well placed into the backstretch run, tracked while widest heading to the half-mile marker, chased three wide into the second turn, lost position into upper stretch and tired in the drive. BILLY DIXON hustled away from the start, tracked the early pace three wide and between runners into the first turn, well placed into the backstretch run, shifted to the rail and chased into the far turn, was outrun to the quarter marker and gave way in the stretch drive.
